Europe's charging infrastructure: CPOs’ developments November 2024

While last month we highlighted the effort of several CPOs to connecting deeper with their customers and offer a most updated image of what they are, their missions and values throught a new branding, November brings new discussions about key topics. EVER Monaco, Emob-Italia (Milan), or the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales - SMCL (Paris) were the scenarios chosen by some of the major CPOs such as Iberdrola ! bp pulse, Allego, EVzen, Atlante or Engie Vianeo, among others. Flexecharge team attended the eCar and eCom Expo in Copenhagen and collected an in-depth look at Denmark's rapidly evolving EV charging landscape, including Denmark's electrification policies, the rise of independent CPOs, and plans for fast-charging hubs across Europe.

CPOs latest news in Northern Europe

  • Eviny Danmark: The new charging station at Ølgod Torv is fully integrated into the architecture of the square and offers different charging capacities up to 360 kW to meet the needs of every EV driver. 
  • Fastned: Named the UK best rapid/ultra-rapid EV charging network by Zapmap, as a third year in a row. Last month, Fastned inaugurated hubs in Glasgow and in Royal Wootton Bassett, just off the M4 near Swindon.
  • InstaVolt: It continuous enhancing its charging network in the UK with 12 new ultra-fast sites across the country, from South Shields, to Sandwich and Swansea. And a further 13 new sites under construction.
  • IONITY: It counts a new site in operation in Coventry, UK, as a result of its partnership with Village Hotels; and in Grimstad, Norway.
  • Uno X: It inaugurated 4 fast-charging stations in Norway located in Gjelleråsen, Kilamyra, Grålum, and Gjøvik.

CPOs latest news in Central Europe

  • Allego: It is strengthening his network in Belgium with a new deal with Ascencio to install 212 fast-charging points up to 400 kW at 45 retail locations - such as supermarkets and shopping centres - across the country.
  • Atlante: It promoted sustainable mobility in partnership with the French Federation of Electric Vehicle User Associations at the EVER Monaco show, celebrated some days ago.  
  • Bump: DHL Beaune, France, counts with 18 new Bump charging points for their light commercial vehicles.
  • DRIVECO: It celebrated the milestone of 150,000 charging points in use in France, an increase of  35% over the last year. 4 charging stations were recently inaugurated at Carrefour Market, in Ducey-les-Chéris, Limours, Longueil-Annel, and Sorgues.
  • Electra: It reached 350 ultra-fast charging stations in operation across Europe: France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands - where Electra inaugurated the of the 100 charging stations planned by 2030. This CPO continuous its partnership strategy to growth its network. Last week, it announced two new agreements with Pelikan Mobility, to help professionals electrify their fleets, and Burger King in Belgium to install 20 fast-charging stations across the country. The first one, in Zandhoven is already in open.
  • EnBW: It keeps growing its network in Germany, extending its partnership with the REWE Group to install up to 1,000 fast charging points at REWE and Penny’s stores by 2030. The company inaugurated also hubs up to 400 kW in Öhringen in Baden-Württemberg region and Wollin in Brandenburg. EnBW is also building five new fast-charging stations in Babaria and Hesse, with a total of 68 charging points.
  • ENGIE Vianeo: It celebrated its milestone of 1,000,000 charging sessions. Its strategy of facilitating fast charging in French turistic mucipalities continuous with a new opening in Moûtiers, and other two ones to be inaugurated in February. The company will complete 250 charging points with different powers in the aix Marseille-Provence metropolitan area - 150 of them in operation - by the end of this year.
  • Fastned: Its fast-charging network added new hubs in Tielt-Winge, Belgium, and Smarpot, Netherlands. This CPO also announced a total of 11 new stations in Luxembourg province from summer 2025. Dinslaken was the chosen location for the first unmanned Fastned shop in Germany, already open.
  • IONITY: Its Belgium charging network includes two new stations in Verviers and Bilzen. They were also new inaugurations in Hallstadt and Delmenhorst, Germany, and Zvolen, Slovakia. 
  • SWIO: New openings in Vianden and Mondorf ,Luxembourg, in the last month. 

CPOs latest news in Southern Europe

  • Atlante: It is joining forces with the associations of electric vehicle users in Portugal (UVE) and Spain (AUVE).
  • Bump: It is strengthening its strategy in Italy, with the visit of the French Ambassador - Martin Briens - and the CEO of Credit Agricole Italia - Giampiero Maioli - to its Italian offices. 
  • DRIVECO: It is targeting the Spanish market, having actively participated in the Global Mobility Call, celebrated in Madrid last week, but also in CEVE in Gijón, and the Retail Forum in Barcelona. 
  • Ewiva: It continues expanding its charging infrastructure across Italy with a new high-power charging station in Loreto, Ancona. 
  • Iberdrola | bp pulse: It is growing in Spain with two inaugurations in Seville: a new ultra-fast EV charging station with 10 charging points at Hotel Abades Banacazón; and another charging point at a Burguer King on the road between Mairena and Viso del Alcor.
  • IONITY: It opened a fast-charging station in Benavente, Spain, a strategic location on the A6 motorway.
  • PowerGo: It announced a new partnership with ERYEL Invest SL to install a hub at the Parc Vallès shopping center in Terrassa, near Barcelona. 

The EV charging landscape in Europe is clearly expanding, with an increasing number of high-powered chargers covering both urban areas and major routes. CPOs are responding to the growing demand for fast and accessible charging infrastructure, driving the transition towards more sustainable mobility.
